IDP Writer for Wales

This tool can support teachers in writing an IDP for a learner in Wales. Simply provide the year group and ALN focus of the learner. For best results, be specific about the needs of your learner without entering personal details - and remember to always adapt the outcome of the AI to match the exact needs of your learner. This tool has been designed by considering the requirements outlined in Chapter 23 of the ALN Code for Wales 2021.

Section 2A: The ALN Code emphasises starting with strengths before addressing needs. List the learner's strengths, interests, and abilities.
Section 2A (and throughout): The ALN Code emphasises person-centered approaches and capturing learner voice. Record the learner's perspective, preferences and aspirations.
Section 2A (and throughout): Parent/carer perspectives are required throughout the IDP. Record the parent/carer views, wishes and feelings.

Section 2A: Description of the child or young person's ALN. Core section describing the specific additional learning needs.
Section 2B: Description of the ALP that must be secured. Must detail what ALP is required, by whom, how often, etc.
Section 2B.1: Intended outcomes. Must specify measurable outcomes (SMART) for the child/young person.
Section 2C: Arrangements for monitoring the effectiveness of the ALP. Details how progress will be measured against outcomes.
