Yes. We built Teachmate specifically for education. Our commitments include UK GDPR compliance, alignment with the Department for Education's AI safety standards and Cyber Essentials certification. Schools should still complete their own approval and risk-assessment process before rollout. Visit the Trust Centre.

You do not need to enter identifiable pupil data to use our tools. Please minimise personal data and use nicknames or pseudonyms where context is needed. We also remind users not to include unnecessary identifiers. Please be reassured though that we do not use your data to train AI models. Customer data, including all user inputs, outputs, and feedback, is never used to train, fine tune, or otherwise incorporate into any large language model. No customer data is included in any model weights, training datasets, or fine tuning processes. This applies to all data entered into our tools, without exception. Read the data-protection guidance.

No. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete or biased. We require users to review, adapt and approve content using their professional judgement before it is used with pupils, parents or colleagues. We have built safeguards in to the platform because we know the risks, but Teachmate is designed to be the co-author with the teacher - not replace them.

We do not provide tools specifically designed to assess work submitted for public examinations. Schools and users remain responsible for following current awarding-body and JCQ rules on the use of AI in assessment.

Yes. We comply with UK GDPR and apply privacy by design and by default. Our privacy policy, data-protection information and Data Processing Agreement explain how we handle personal data. See the privacy information.

We are the controller for account and service-administration data, such as a user's name and contact details. When a user chooses to enter personal data into an AI tool, the customer is the controller and we act as the processor.

Account data can include a user's name and contact details. We also process technical and usage information needed to operate, secure and improve the service. Stripe handles payment card details; we do not store them.

Depending on the circumstances, you can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or portability. You can make a request through our contact form. We answer requests within the period required by law, normally one month.

Yes. Teachmate is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office. Our company number is 14972646.

We use TLS encryption for data in transit and AES-256 encryption for data at rest. Our Data Processing Agreement also describes security measures covering access control, availability and regular review. Read the Data Processing Agreement.

Yes. We are Cyber Essentials certified. Our cloud infrastructure providers also maintain their own SOC 2 and ISO 27001/27002 certifications. Those infrastructure certifications apply to our providers and do not mean that we hold the same certifications ourselves.

Saved content in My Content is intended to be visible only to you. Authorised members of our team may access relevant information when you ask for troubleshooting help or when access is necessary to resolve a technical issue.

Yes. We use specialist service providers to deliver parts of our service. We maintain the current sub-processor list, including purpose and processing location, in Annex B of our Data Processing Agreement. View the current agreement.

We use reasonable endeavours to notify customers promptly about sub-processor changes and give them a reasonable opportunity to object. We remain responsible for our sub-processors under the Data Processing Agreement.

We store and process customer account and AI-tool data in the UK and EU. Some limited website, marketing, analytics or payment data may be processed elsewhere using recognised safeguards such as standard contractual clauses, the UK IDTA or the Data Privacy Framework.

No. We do not use customer inputs, outputs or feedback to train or fine-tune language models, and we do not add them to model weights or training datasets.

Generic AI tools are built for everyone and belong to no one. They tend to produce American-centric content, rely entirely on how well you word your prompt, offer no training or support, and depending on the package, can feed your inputs back into the model. For a teacher that often means more time spent wrestling with the tool than saving with it.

Teachmate is purpose-built for UK education: more than 160 education-specific tools alongside Open Chat, aligned to the national curriculum, wrapped in scaffolded guidance so you get strong results without prompt-engineering skills, backed by a human support team, and built on a data model that keeps your information private. It's designed to save teacher time, not consume it. So rather than facing a blank chatbot box, you choose the tool that matches what you're trying to do and let it structure the request for you.

Generic models have fewer controls over their outputs, which makes them more likely to produce mistakes or invented information. Teachmate uses augmented AI models dedicated to education, with a model design that actively helps prevent hallucinations and incorrect information. Retrieval-augmented generation lets the tools draw on trusted educational sources relevant to your request, rather than relying on the model's memory alone, which grounds outputs in reliable material.

Our tools collect structured classroom information and use retrieval-augmented generation to reference trusted sources for the selected country, curriculum and phase. This gives the AI more educational context than an unstructured prompt alone.

Teachmate is responsive to curriculum changes, so the platform moves with UK and international education rather than lagging behind it. A generic model has no reason to track what's happening with school curriculum, Teachmate does.

No AI service can guarantee that. We use structured prompts and educational context to improve relevance, but hallucinations and bias can still occur. Teachers must review and refine outputs. We have built the safeguards, as we know the risks but our teachers are co-authors of their content and we always encourage them to take ownership.

We may use feedback to improve our prompts and service, but we do not use it to train or fine-tune the underlying AI models.

We are a secure web platform built for educators, with more than 160 AI-powered teaching tools and an education-specific Open Chat for planning, resource creation, report writing, assessment support and school administration and leadership.

Unlike generic AI chatbots, Teachmate uses retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), which means it references trusted data sources specific to your curriculum, country and phase of education to ensure every output is accurate, relevant and responsible.

Our 160+ tools cover tasks including lesson planning, worksheets, quizzes, slides, differentiation, pupil reports, support profiles, SEND, leadership tasks, CPD and administrative writing. If we don't have a tool for it, we offer an open chat option to create outputs or direct you to the correct tool. No matter whether you are EYFS, younger or older students - Teachmate covers all aspects of school and college life.

Open Chat is our education-specific conversational assistant. It supports written prompts, file uploads and web search, so you can ask follow-up questions or work on a task that does not fit a structured tool.

Teachmate is designed to work quickly and intuitively, but a few simple tips will help you get the most from it:

Be specific in your prompts – include year group, subject, topic, learning objectives, or any special requirements. The more detail you give, the more tailored the output will be.

Use the right tool for the task – whether it’s a lesson planner, report writer, or leadership tool, each one is designed with a particular task in mind.

Ask 'Open Chat' - If there isn't a specific tool for task, you can go to our Open Chat. Here you can prompt your own request and even upload files or search the web.

Evaluate and adapt – Teachmate saves you time by giving you a strong first draft, however it is never intended to replace you. Always ensure you evaluate, tweak and adjust the content using our AI-powered refinement bar or online editor.

Generic tools rely heavily on the quality of your prompt and give you no guidance, so results vary wildly depending on how you phrase things. Teachmate's tools are built to guide and support even the most novice user, with scaffolded support suited to every ability level. Instead of a blank prompt, each tool asks you for the teaching context that matters - curriculum, phase, subject and objective etc so the tool does the heavy lifting of turning that into a strong result. You don't need to learn "prompt engineering" to get a great result.

Yes. We offer a free basic option and mark free tools in the platform. Our free tools include: Medium Term Topic Planner, Activity Idea Generator, Jingle Generator and more. Pro tools and open chat require a paid subscription. Our pricing page shows the current plan comparison. Compare plans.

Resources you create remain your property. You are the author and owner of your own creations. You may use, distribute and modify them outside Teachmate, subject to the law and any third-party rights that apply.

You must be at least 18 years old to create and use an account. We designed the service for educators, not as a pupil account.

We store and process account information and data entered into our AI tools in the UK and EU using Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure infrastructure.

We retain AI inputs and outputs saved in My Content for 28 days. You can delete saved content sooner from within the service.

We delete school data 28 days after the contract expires, unless active renewal discussions are taking place or the law requires us to retain it.

We retain information linked to an individual subscription while it is active and delete inactive individual accounts after six years. You can request account deletion sooner.

Yes. Users can delete their own saved AI content from My Content before the normal 28-day retention period expires.

Yes. The basic option is completely free and does not require a payment card. Paid Pro plans unlock the paid tools and features shown in the current plan comparison. See current pricing.

Yes. Individual Pro subscriptions are available monthly or annually and renew automatically until cancelled. Current prices and the plan comparison are maintained on the pricing page rather than duplicated here. See current pricing.

Whole-school pricing depends on the number of staff licences required and is presented as an annual total for the school. Schools and trusts can use our pricing page or contact us for the appropriate package.

Yes. If your school needs an invoice, or you are purchasing for multiple schools, contact our team and we will arrange the order. Contact us.

No. Stripe handles card payments and card details. We do not store your card details.

After a school purchase is processed, the purchaser becomes the school group manager or they can appoint a manager. The management panel lets that person assign or reassign licences to staff email addresses.

Yes. We support purchases for multiple schools. Trusts and other groups should contact our team to discuss licence numbers, central billing and the most suitable rollout. Buying as a trust or group of schools makes the per licence count cheaper for schools. Talk to the team.

Our school offering includes a management panel and information about product use and reported time saved, as well as top users. This gives leaders visibility of adoption. We will not provide individual teacher usage or tool data.

We provide curriculum-aligned tools for: Australia, Canada, England, Ireland, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Scotland, United States and Wales. As well as: Spanish, French, Italian, IGCSE, International Baccalaureate (IB), International A-Levels and International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC). The context collected by each tool can include curriculum, phase, subject and topic.

We provide live and recorded CPD webinars, product guidance and Certified Educator courses. Schools can discuss the training needed for their rollout with our team.

Yes. School customers can use Google OpenID Connect or Microsoft Azure AD/OpenID Connect for single sign-on after a school administrator configures it. We receive an authentication token and user identifier, not the user's password.

Yes. We provide optional Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive export integrations. They use OAuth 2.0, so you authorise access with the provider without giving us your Google or Microsoft password.

You can revoke access through the relevant Google or Microsoft account settings. When you revoke access, we delete the saved authorisation tokens.

Our help area includes FAQs and video tutorials, together with direct support. We normally reply within 24 to 48 hours from Monday to Friday, often sooner, and we also check urgent messages at weekends.

We offer video guidance, live and recorded CPD and Certified Educator courses. Or get in touch with our team and we can provide bespoke support for your setting.

Use Help, then Report a Bug inside Teachmate. Include the tool or page involved, what happened and enough detail for us to reproduce the problem. Or simply fill in our contact form and give us as much detail as possible so our team can investigate.

Yes. We publish our Data Processing Agreement, including processing instructions, security measures, retention information and the current sub-processor annex. Read the agreement.

Yes. We provide reasonable assistance with data-protection impact assessments and prior consultation where the processing requires it, as set out in our Data Processing Agreement.

Yes. We provide reasonably necessary compliance information on request. This may include relevant certifications, questionnaires or summaries of technical and organisational measures before any audit is considered.

We will notify the customer as soon as reasonably possible after becoming aware of a relevant personal-data breach. We may provide further information in phases as the investigation develops.

Cancellation is available through My Account. Paid access continues until the end of the current paid billing period, after which the subscription does not renew.

To protect your account and personal data, the fastest and most secure way to cancel is through your account dashboard. This ensures only you, the verified account holder, can make changes to your subscription.

To cancel:

1. Log in to your Teachmate account

2. Click your profile menu (top right) → My Account

3. Go to Subscription and click Cancel Subscription

Yes. Cancelling stops the next renewal. The account keeps its paid access until the end of the billing period that has already been paid for.

We provide a 14-day refund period only if you have not accessed any Pro tools. Accessing a Pro tool starts the digital service and waives that cooling-off right. Later recurring payments are generally non-refundable. Please see our terms and conditions for full details.

You can delete your account through My Account. We delete the associated account data as part of that process.

In My Account, choose subscription and then cancellation, update card to open the Stripe customer portal. Stripe manages your card details; we do not store them.
