Calm Critter
A class pet that listens to how loud the room is and rewards a calm classroom.
- Uses the microphone
- Plays sound
- Nothing is saved.
How to use it
In your classroom
- Choose today's class pet and give it a name. Use a pet name, not a pupil's.
- Pick how long the session is, then press Start sound check and allow the microphone.
- Follow the sound check: a quiet moment, then normal chatter, so the meter fits your room.
- Choose Quiet work or Talk time. While the class keeps the volume in the green, the pet earns treats; too loud and it hides until the room is calm again.
- Give a treat, pause for Teacher talking or start a Tidy-up race whenever you need to, and open the Summary at the end of the lesson.
Put it on the board in full screen (press F). The pet unlocks toys and a cosier room as the treats add up, which makes a good shared goal for the week.
Only the volume is measured: nothing is recorded, saved or sent, and closing the tab clears everything.
